The Personality Compass
One of the most exciting tools I've added to my box in recent years is certification in the
Personality Compass.
Throughout my career, I've been attracted by the potential of personality science but my
experience with other instruments always fell short of the expectaions. The training events
were fun and even enlightening but without expensive follow-up they, were complicated and
difficult to employ and sustain.
Then I was introduced to Diane Turner and Thelma Greco who developed the Personality
Compass. The instrument has received acclaim in both Europe and South Africa and has
been successfully utilized in companies like USA Today, Tandy Radio Shack and Merck.
My first reaction to the Personality Compass was: "Finally here is something that not only
works but that we can actually use." The model is so simple and elegant that virtually
anyone can use it accurately and effectively with just a day of rather fun training. I've seen
this instrument enter the common vocabulary of a workplace within a few hour and in the
long term, have some very interesting results.
And best of all, work environments in which the Compass is used are less stressful, more
collaborative and more engaging.
