Beyond Six Sigma, Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing...
programs expensive to sustain and with reluctance admit to seeing declining benefits as the program seems to grow stale. This happens for a number of reasons but the critical one is that the environment of the organization is inherently different from that which is typical of Japanese companies out of which most of these programs grew. American culture and the culture of American organizations is more diverse, transient and most often does not engender the sense of longevity and job-permanence that is typical of a Japanese organization. We don't want to ignore our diversity or lose the creativity that diversity brings. These are advantageous qualities. The solution is to apply the fundamentals of performance improvement programs, perhaps on a smaller scale, within an American context that also is developing a organizational culture of talent management which provides the diverse American workforce with a sense of inclusion and which motivates individuals to remain with the organization for a longer period of time. It is estimated that people will now change careers, not just jobs but careers, five or six times during their work lives. Organizations which foster this kind of individual growth within a culture that fosters commitment and dedication will maintain the talent they've recruited, hired and trained. At IntegrityHPI, we proudly help organizations employ performance improvement solutions on the project level so the immediate benefits of those measures can be gained.
